Redeeming Freedom Re-Formation

Hey everyone! It’s so nice to “see” you and be back to the business of blogging. The last several months have been such a struggle for me. I wanted to write, felt like I ought to, but my mind continued to be so blank as to what to say.

First it was the holiday season, but I had every intention of jumping back into blogging after that had passed. Unfortunately however, I continued to be at my mental and emotional capacity with our kitchen remodel project, working through some personal issues and preparing for my talk at the conference.

Even through all of this, I was praying and asking God (and people) to give me some ideas for my blog; some inspiration, some direction. After weeks and weeks of essentially NOTHING, after the conference was over, God began to pour ideas and direction into my heart. I sat down to write down some ideas the other day, and I’m not kidding you, I have probably a whole year’s worth of blog post ideas now! Isn’t that amazing?

I have been so amazingly blessed by God in such intimate and personal ways in the last weeks. I am so excited to move forward in the new found freedom He’s given me to serve Him in the calling He’s placed on my life- part of which, I believe, is this blog.

With that said, I am so excited to announce the re-formation of my blog and the new direction that we are heading together! Here’s the plan:

New blog posts will come out on Monday’s and on Wednesday’s. Monday blog posts will fall under the category of, “Lessons in Young Womanhood” which will feature articles on topics related to, well, being a young woman. We will talk about things like basic life skills such as cooking and how to manage a household, but also we will talk about how to approach relationships; boyfriends, friends, teachers, parents, etc in a Godly and wise way. Additionally, we will talk about general areas of interest to young women such as feminism, and we will talk about cultivating Godly characteristics and learning to find your voice. And of course, all of this will come from my unique Christian feminist perspective.

On Wednesday’s, I will alternate between doing posts on, “Lessons in Early Marriage” and “Lessons in Young Motherhood”. Marriage posts will include things I’ve learned in my 18 years of marriage on building a healthy marriage from a decidedly Egalitarian perspective. Interestingly, I was raised up in Complementary churches, and was taught to believe this theology and thought I was practicing it, but have come to find out that from the beginning, we really just had an Egalitarian marriage the whole time, and maybe that’s why it has worked so well and been so (generally) healthy.

“Lessons in Young Motherhood” posts will include practical posts on time management and running a home, but will also include parenting tips, and dealing with all sorts of relationships. The older I get, and the older my kids get, the more I realize I have so much to learn about parenting (and life in general). But- with a 16 year old son, a 14 year old son, 10 year old triplet daughters and an adopted 5 year old daughter, I think I have, at least a bit of learned wisdom. Or, at least a bit of experience to share.

In addition to all of this, 1-2 times a month I will have a special Friday edition post. Friday’s are going to be a bit “free-form”. Sometimes I may do a video. Sometimes I may do a blog post outside of the aforementioned categories. And sometimes I will do some interview posts with women who inspire me in some way.

My goal for my blog going forward is to write easy-to-read articles that are useful and helpful to others, and encourage and inspire us all to grow in Godly wisdom and maturity. I am hopeful that much of what I write will not just be me talking, but will spark some great conversations as well. I hope you’re as excited as I am to get started!
